Team Fragile X fundraiser – A Contest!

Team Fragile X fundraiser – A Contest!

If you missed my earlier post (Team Fragile X – A Challenge), or that humungous fundraising link to the left, or that pole dancing photo on Facebook, there is a fundraiser going on to benefit the Annual Fund for the National Fragile X Foundation! Just to clear up any possible confusion…I started the fundraiser, because someone had to, but this is a TEAM event. We need as many family members and friends as possible to join the team and help raise money. Any money you raise on your page goes to the team total but YOU get credit for your hard work on your own page. OK? Cool, eh?

SO. We currently have 10 members on the team which is very cool and I LOVE them for joining. I just think we can do better. The more people who join, who spread the word about what this means to their family, the better because, let’s be honest…your Great Aunt Sue doesn’t want to donate money to me…she wants to donate money to you and your adorable kid(s)! Your friends and family are MUCH more likely to donate if they know the person (YOU) asking. That’s why it’s important to join the team. I don’t think I need to tell you why it’s important to donate money, you already know!

Now, about that contest…it’s pretty simple…whichever team member ((Excluding me!)) who raises the most money between now and 12:00 PM EST on December 7th gets what’s in this box:

Pretty cool, eh? What’s inside is really, really, super cool…

You can’t buy one of these stainless steel, NFXF travel mugs anywhere at the moment! Some day you will but until then the ONLY way to get this…is to win it. So…go join the team and raise some dough!

Instructions on how to join Team Fragile X can be found here: Team Fragile X

Day 6 – He’s just the sweetest

Day 6 – He’s just the sweetest

It was an eventful evening here tonight. First, we were told that Caleb fell asleep at school today which is troublesome…he never naps…why is he doing it at school and not at home on a Sunday afternoon when I can take advantage of it? All kidding aside, this can only mean one of two things….either he’s getting sick or he’s going through a growth spurt.

Unfortunately, it appears to be the first. He was a little rashy and slightly feverish but ate fine and acted like an itchy version of his normal self. We shuffled him off to bed as early as possible though our bedtime cannot be moved earlier due to that trial medication. He has to wait at least 4 hours between doses and that third dose can’t happen any earlier than 8. SO, when he was finally cleared for a crash landing in his bed he got a little demanding…of course he’s incredibly sweet when he’s demanding…he simply asks for what he wants with a slight smile and a lilt to his voice…over and over and over and over until we just give in.

Tonight he decided he needed some Sneaky cuddle time. Of course this is NOT allowed, you are not supposed to touch the elf,but we had requested some vitamins from Santa just in case something like this came up. So we handed over Sneak and Caleb smiled, kissed him good night and tucked him into bed. Aww!

When I went to get Sneak to help with the mischief for the evening, I found this…

Umm…whatcha’ doin’ Sharkbait? It looks like I rescued Sneak just in time!

After soothing the poor dear with lots and lots and LOTS of sugar…things got alittle out of hand…

I would be worried about who was going to get stuck cleaning that mess up tomorrow but I’m pretty sure I’ll find Caleb licking the table saying, “Mmm, needs sugar!” by 5:30 AM. If I stay in bed long enough he should get the whole pile cleaned up. Here’s hoping he’ll feel well enough to go to school, otherwise Eric won’t be too pleased with the sugar high Caleb will be riding.

“Um, we have to tell you something.”

Those words make my hands sweat…to hear them from Caleb’s teacher…*gulp*

It turns out that the thing they had to tell us was that they took him to Dunkin Donuts yesterday for an afternoon break, his normally scheduled activity was cancelled for reasons unknown. If they had started the story this way I could have finished the story….

He jogged all the way to Dunkins, he yanked the door open and ran to the cashier. He then ordered 50 billion Coolattas with fwipped cweam.

The boy was wired. They convinced him to have a hot chocolate instead of a Coolatta and they bought a box of munchkins to share. He skipped back to school carrying the box. As soon as his hot chocolate was gone he began harassing them to “fill it? fill it up?”

Shockingly, after hot chocolate and donuts, he bounced off the walls all afternoon.

Thankfully, he got it out of his system before Eric arrived to pick him up. I’m guessing it might be a while before they do that “field trip” again, lol.

Persistence

Persistence

One of my favorite aspects of Caleb’s personality is his persistence. I’m not sure if he was born this particular trait, that allows him to repeat words or requests over and over and over again without getting frustrated when we don’t understand him, or if he has just learned that eventually we will get it. It might take ages but sooner or later we will catch on. (See: It’s like winning the lottery! or It feels like I won a gold medal!) As his language has developed it has gotten easier and easier…for instance, I figured out what he wanted this time within seconds.

We started with a piece from his marble run but it was too small so Money improvised.
