Monkey has hit a bit of a plateau on potty training for a while now. We had him on a schedule and he was fairly well catch trained at one point but then he began resisting our efforts to go on the potty and we backed off a bit. In his new classroom at school he has been resistant to using the potty as well. So we wait.
We’re finally getting signs that he may be progressing in the BM area, he is coming to us and telling us that he’s had a BM and demands a new “‘per!” It’s (a very small) something but we’re back to hoping we may someday actually succeed here.
I’ve always heard that the feel and learn style pullups are a waste (expensive and not very useful for training ultimately.) Has anyone switched from diapers to these pull ups and then had potty training success?
no 🙁 We tried it with matty but had to go to underwear.
Punkin only wears pull-ups because they fit better. He could care less if the stars on the front disappear. I do think the ones that turn cold when you pee are cool, though. I do think that helped a little. But they only make them in the smallest size. DOH!
That’s really unfortunate…Monkey won’t wear normal underwear, he’ll only wear boxers like his Duhdee :-\ Argh, so messy.
It’s kind of odd…I don’t remember potty training the boys, and I don’t remember if we used pull ups. I DO remember when Kyle was around 8? I told him that he wasn’t going to wear a diaper (acutally, it was probably a pull up) to bed anymore (even though his diaper would be wet every morning). And that was that….he stayed dry! I think that maybe he was going in the pull up after he woke up because it was “there.” I don’t know, maybe not!
I actually tried a bit of this yesterday Jennifer!
Monkey was asking for M’s, I told him he could have some M’s if he peed on the potty. He took his diaper off and did so. After receiving his reward (which also includes my patented “You Peed on the Potty!” dance”) I told him that he could wear boxers but that if he had to p**p he needed to ask for a diaper or go on the potty.
He asked for a diaper to p**p in a while later. The little stinker has been holding out on us! Now if we can get him to do this consistently…
