For Monkey’s first birthday we ordered him a copy of My Very Own Name using his first, middle and last names. It’s been kept in the keepsake box for the last almost 4 years. Since I decided this week to reinstate the “No TV After Dinner” rule in favor of reading, I have been pulling out the books that I’ve been holding back for him (while he outgrew the tear every page and chew on the binding phase.) This one made its debut two nights ago and his face LIT UP when I read his name in the course of the story. It’s now his very favorite book.
I’m contemplating the My Very Own ABC’s as well since we are still working on letters but it is a board book so I’m just not sure…
OMG thank you so much for these links! I love them… Now i want to get all three for Holly…. She is in the biting and bending page phase, not ripping yet, but soon I bet. What a cool find.
The ripping was never intentional, he was just a little too forceful turning pages, lol. We did discover that you can use clear packing tape to cover the pages and it makes them just about indestructible. We had to do this with his Pokey Little Puppy book because he LOVED it (almost to death) and I never did get around to finding a board book version. We’ll get him a fresh copy of that book sometime too but the first taped up one will go in his keepsake box.
monkey has a birthday coming up 🙂
He does indeed. I e-mailed the company to suggest that they make a normal version of the alphabet book and they’re going to try to have one done for us! Monkey is just not interested in board books these days, he’s more interested in the “big boy” versions.
